Bursting Lights –
Reminding Us
The Fourth of July event bursted
with fireworks.
As soon as the sun set, they
started like clockwork.
Every time another set went
off, I was stirred to jerk.
It was obvious the designers
had superb teamwork.
The display reminded us of
our nation’s groundwork.
Our earliest soldiers fought
for us – dangerous work.
Cloudburst
Driving to the mountains to
see grandpa.
A violent burst filled us
with awe.
Torrential rain caused a
clenched jaw.
How would we ever get through
Utah?
Should we stop and call
grandma?
She told us to find shelter
and withdraw.
“Stay put, don’t hem and
haw.”
“After you arrive, I’ll treat
y’all to the spa.”
Red Sky at Night
Dad told us a bright sky at night was a good thing.
It meant that we could go on our boat the next day.
We were just thrilled to see the colors burst around us.
The orange, pinkish-red, and purple hues were amazing.
Mom told us it was merely moisture in the clouds.
We thought God was painting the sky.
